Letting Love In-Ch20

Chapter 20:
He handed me a pair of sweatpants out of his bag, of course they were too big, but I put them on anyway. Then he threw a t-shirt at me and put it on. I watched him put on his shirt, every muscle in his stomach flexing and relaxing. “What?” he asked when he realized I was staring at him, “Nothing” I said shaking the image of him standing naked above me out of my head. He motioned for me to put my jacket and shoes on. “Hmm… red pumps don’t really match sweatpants” I said. I handed the shoes to Sid, “Put these in your bag and I’ll be right back.” I ran to one of the closets that held my ice skates, and some of my other things and I took out my emergency pair of socks and sneakers. When I walked back into the room Sidney was packing his stuff in his bag. I sat down next to him on the bench and put my shoes on. “Always prepared” I said tying the laces. He stood up, grabbed my hand and we walked out of the arena out the back entrance to the car.
“It’s about time you showed up” Kevin said when we walked outside. “We were just talking about the game” Sid said as Kevin closed the door. I slid close to Sid once we were on our way. [The car has a divider between the driver and passengers like a limo, so Kevin couldn’t see] He reached his arm around me and I snuggled into his chest. “Much better” I said to him. He tilted my head up and gave me a soft kiss. “You are perfect” he said. I thanked him with a kiss and settled back in his arms. It was around 1:30 when we arrived home. Sidney said he would see me in the morning and told me to go to bed, he knew I was tired. So I went upstairs and slid right into bed. His shirt smelled like him, and all I could remember was the feel of his body pressed against mine.
*******
When I woke up, I put on different pants so that Sidney’s wouldn’t fall off when I walked downstairs. When I went downstairs, Sunday breakfast was being made. The smell of waffles filled the air. I was the first one downstairs, so I sat at the table and talked to Amanda about the days upcoming events. Right when Sidney and my uncle walked in, she asked me what I did last night after the game. “Well Sidney and I were um… talking about the game for a while. He asked me what I noticed about the other player’s body language and um… habits” I said, putting emphasis on ‘body language’. He looked at me with a devilish grin and sat down in his seat. My mother and father came into the room followed by my brother, and then my cousins.
It was a nice breakfast. We talked about Christmas [it was a little more than a week away] and what our plans were. Sidney was sitting across from me, and was watching every move I made. I noticed this quickly and decided to take advantage of him. I took a bite of my waffle and carefully licked the syrup off the fork with my tongue, and smacked my lips. He moved uneasily in his seat and gave me a ‘stop it if you know what is good for you later’ look. I snickered and asked to be excused. I went up to my room and decided that I wanted to go with my uncle and Sidney to the arena for the day. “Hey Uncle Mario?” I called downstairs, “Yes Kay” he called back. “What time are you leaving for the arena today?” “In about a half hour”, he said. “I think I’m going to come with you”, “Alright, just be ready for a media day”.
I took a quick shower, disappointed to be alone this time, and blow-dried my hair, then put it up in a teased ponytail. Then I grabbed a pair of jet black skinny jeans, and a long sleeved white blazer with a ¼ of an inch of metallic gold lining. Then I found a pair of black pumps and put on a gold chain Coach necklace. I applied my makeup and grabbed a pair of white leather gloves. Then I headed downstairs. When I walked down the stairs, Sidney was just coming into the foyer. “Time to go” he said flatly and walked outside to the car.
The ride to the arena was almost silent. Except for Uncle Mario talking to some reporter on his cell phone, the only other noise was the hum of the car engine. When we got to the arena, my uncle was first to get out, then me and then Sidney. When I got out of the car, I waited for Sidney. He stood next to me, and playfully shoved my shoulder. When we walked into the arena, he bent over and whispered “Now at least I’ll have something goof to look at while I have to do this shit”. “True” I said with a giggle as we walked into the meeting room.
I took a seat in the back corner. Close enough to hear and see, far enough to not be noticed. They asked him all these question about the opposing teams, his strategies, the team, the coach. Almost every question about the game over hockey was answered. After some answers, he would look over at me, and I would look back. We weren’t allowed to show emotion to each other, because we both didn’t want to give anyone hints about us. Finally, it was over. When he was done, he wanted to just shoot some pucks around to relax before we went home.
I walked with him and my uncle down to the dressing room. I looked towards the shower room and smiled. Sid saw this and started laughing. I walked out of the room, down the runway and sat down on the bench. A few minutes later, Sid was out on the ice. Every shot sailed into the net, even his slap shots. It was amazing to me. After a few minutes he skated over to the bench. “Want to try some?” he said with a smile, “Well I don’t really know, I’m wearing heels and--“ “I’ll help you, come on” he said taking my hand and pulling me onto the ice. He held my waist as we went out to the nearest goal. I slipped a little, but he just held me tighter. “Best out of 5?” he asked handing me his stick. “Sure, but what are the stakes?” I asked the same as yesterday. “If I win, you come out to dinner and spend the night with me. If I lose, I make you dinner.” He said encouraging me to take the stick. He took one step back and I hit the puck. ‘Dink’, it went right off the left post. “Too bad” he said taking the stick. He grabbed another puck and shot it. Of course, it went in. I took another shot that sailed wide. “Uh-oh” he said with a devilish grin. “You are one shot away from being forced to spend the night with me. I knew he was kidding and just trying to find a cute way to ask me out, so I let him play around. He took his shot, and of course made it. After I lost, I wanted to try something. “Come here” I said. I covered his eyes with my hands. “What are you doing?” he asked, “Shoot it” I said. He turned his body a little, and hit the puck. With perfect accuracy, it went right in. “Wow, my boyfriend really is the best thing hockey has ever seen” I said. “Boyfriend?” he said with a questioning tone “Well I don’t really like you that much” he said. “What?!” I squealed. “I’m kidding Kay. And by the way, my girlfriend should really stick to dancing”. I hit his arm and lost my balance, but just like a bodyguard, he picked me up and kissed me. Then he carried me bridal style to the bench and set me back on my feet. “I have some more things to go over with your uncle, so go back home. Be ready at 7:00” he said leaning in to kiss me. “How should I dress?” I asked, “How you would for your favorite restaurant. Tonight, is all about you” he said. I gave him a peck on the cheek, turned on my heel and walked out to the car with a smile on my face. “The first actual date… this is going to be fun” I said. Then Kevin shut the door, and we were off for home.

Letting Love In-Ch19

Chapter 19:
They won the game. Everyone was cheering and clapping. It ended late, so my mother told me that she was going to take the kids home and I could get a ride back with my uncle or Sidney. “Alright, but I think I’m going to wait up here for a little while until the media clears out” I said. So I sat in the box watching the fans file out of the arena. Then I took out my phone and looked at the time. It was close to eleven, and I figured that most of the guys would be out of the locker room. I picked up my things and walked to the elevator, the proceeded to make my way down to the dressing room. Just then my phone rang. “Hey Uncle Mario” I said into the phone, “Hi Kay, I just wanted to let you know that I had to leave the scrums early, so you will need to catch a ride with Sidney.” “Oh, ok, and congratulations on your big win”, “Thank you Kay, see you tomorrow morning.” I hung up with him just as I reached the hallway to the dressing rooms. There was only a few staff members left when I got down there. Apparently the media scrums had finished very early. It was dark in the main dressing room, and all of the players had gone already. It was then that I heard the sound of something hitting a bench in the next room.
“Hello?” I called into the semi-darkness. No answer. I walked into the next room. “Sid? Are you in here? My uncle already left and no one else is here so we have to catch a ride together.” When I turned around to look towards the showers, I heard the water running. I looked at Sid’s cubby and noticed everything was still there. So I decided we should have a little fun. I slipped my shoes off, and put my jacket down on the bench next to his things. Then I took off all the rest of my clothes and wrapped myself in a towel. “Oh, Sidney” I said in a sing-song tune as I walked into the shower room. “Kay?” he asked. I went over to his shower stall and he pulled the curtain back to reveal his face. His eyes widened when he saw me standing in front of him, in just a towel.
“I thought that you could use some…company” I said sliding the towel off and pulling back the curtain to reveal his wet naked body. I stepped into the hot stall and closed the curtain. His mouth was still hanging open when I turned around to face him. “You can close your mouth now” I said with a grin. “What made you think of this?” he said, his voice a little high pitched from me tracing the lines of his six-pack. “Well I figured this is the first win I’ve been home for, and we should… celebrate.” He slid his hands onto my ass and pulled me in close to him. He began to kiss me, hard, and I could feel his erection growing as I pulled away from the kiss and bit my way down his neck to his shoulder. I giggled as he pinned me against the wall. Holding my hands above my head, he kissed and sucked his way over my breasts. I started to squirm with anticipation as he nudged my legs apart and looked down at me with an expression I had never seen before. His eyes were burning with desire and passion. When I smiled up at him, he picked me up and entered into me. [By the way, I wasn’t a virgin] Our bodies began to move together and finally with one stroke of my clit, he sent me over the edge. I saw stars and felt my thighs quiver as I screamed his name. He silenced me by biting my neck, and leaving a mark. He released me out of his arms and set me on the floor. He watched me on shock as I kissed, licked and sucked my way down his upper body until I was kneeling. I looked up at him and slid his hard dick into my mouth. I licked around the head, to the base and back up again. While doing that I gently stroked the sensitive patch of skin around his balls. I took his balls and rolled them in my hand. With one hard suck I felt him quiver and tasted the sweet honey and salt flavor fill my mouth. When we were finally done, he shut the water off and grabbed our towels off the floor. I wrapped it around me and opened the curtain. He told me to wait to make sure no one was left and when the coast was clear I proceeded after him to the dressing room.

Letting Love In-Ch18

Chapter 18:
He woke me up around 7:30. “Kay, Nancy is going to come up here any minute to make sure I’m awake. You have to get up” he said. I smirked and pulled the covers up to the top of my nose and moved over even closer to him. “No” I said with a whine. I felt him get off the bed and I heard the bathroom door close. I slept for another fifteen minutes, but was awakened by a knock on the door. Just then Sidney opened the door to the bathroom and motioned me to hurry in quickly. “Sidney are you awake?” It was my uncle. “Yeah I just got out of the shower he said. Then I noticed he was standing there dripping wet in a towel. While he listened to my uncle talk about getting ready for practice and such, I looked him up and down. His muscles flexed and relaxed almost to a beat. He was so gorgeous.
When my uncle was gone I told Sidney I would see him later and ran back to my house. I quickly ate breakfast. “Amanda, what is my family doing this morning?” I asked after taking a gulp of juice. “Well there is a game tonight, so you’re mother and father will probably be working for the day until before the game, so nothing really.” Just then my uncle walked into the kitchen. “Kay we are leaving in 10 minutes of you want to come to the arena with Sidney and I”. “Alright” I said and then ran up to my room. I threw on a pair of black Nike sweatpants, with a white tank top, long sleeve thermal and my Pittsburgh Penguins zip-up jacket. I put on my short black Uggs, and threw my hair into a ponytail. I grabbed a black jacket out of my closet and ran down to the car.
“Good morning…again” Sidney said with a smirk while I was getting in the car. “Your uncle should be another minute” he said. We sat there staring at each other for about 30 seconds, when sure enough Uncle Mario slid into the backseat. “Hello” he said with a bright smile. “Good morning” I said back taking out my cell phone. I decided to avoid conversation about tonight’s opponent by playing a game the whole way there. Once we got to the arena I went and got a soft pretzel. [I know it was early, but pretzels are my favorite] Then I went down into an empty section about 6 rows away from the ice across from the bench. I stretched myself out across two chairs and watched the team’s practice. Occasionally Sid would look up at me and smile. It surprised me how much he actually loved hockey. I mean, I watched my uncle for most of my life, but I couldn’t picture Sidney doing anything else. As fast as practice started, it ended. My uncle called my name from the bench, and I saw him hold up my ice skates.
I ran to the wall near the runway and hopped over the rail. “Kay, will you stop doing that? One time you’re going to get hurt!” my uncle said to me handing me my skates. “Yeah, yeah, yeah” I said waving him off. I laced up the skates and rolled my pants up a little above my ankle. Then I pulled out my iPod and cranked it up. I was just fooling around doing jumps and turns [yes, I can skate a little too, but not the best] by the opposing bench when one earpiece fell out, pulling the other one which caused the wires to fall onto the ice. I bent down to pick them up, and when I looked up I saw a pair of black skates about a foot away from my hand.
“I didn’t know you could skate” he said as I stood up. “Well Sid, you and Uncle Mario aren’t the only ones who have some skill on the ice” I said, sarcastically. “Oh well excuse me” he said mocking me. I stuck my tongue out at him and started skating backwards. He watched me do a turning switch [a dance move] and make some figure eights for a few minutes. Then he started to skate towards me again. As I stopped I sprayed his legs with ice. “Race ya” I said with a big grin. “What are the stakes?” he said. “Well if I win, you have to do whatever I want you to do for a whole hour” I said. “What about if you lose?” he asked as I skated to the nearest net, “Oh don’t worry, I won’t lose” I said back.
“Ready, set, GO” he said. I beat him by about a third of a second. “Ha” I said breathing heavily. “Well you were right” he said, still breathing normally, “But there’s just one thing” “What?” I asked skating towards him so that our feet were touching. “I’d do anything you want me to all day, every day” then he leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. When we pulled apart I rested my hands on his arms “That’s sweet, but it doesn’t mean that you aren’t a loser” I said with a whisper. I gave a peck on the cheek and told him to go get changed and that I will see him in a while.
*****************
[In the meantime, I had gone back to the house by myself, my uncle and Sidney has to deal with the press, and ate lunch with my family. I rested a while, reading and watching TV]
I got into the shower at 4:30. I blow-dried and straightened my hair. I put on a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a cream colored cashmere sweater, and a pair of red pumps. I threw my Burberry scarf around my neck and put on gold hoop earrings. Then I touched up my makeup and went downstairs. I grabbed a slice of pizza out of the fridge and ate it while waiting for the rest of my family. “Kay we’re leaving in ten minutes!” I heard my mother yell while putting the coats onto my cousins and brother. “Alright Mom” I said and went back upstairs to brush my teeth and get my coat.
My family and I piled into the limo that was waiting outside our house. My mother and aunt reminded the kids of the rules when we were in the box. “No fighting, no yelling and screaming, no running around like wild animals” my mother said. “And no matter what, you wait for one of us to walk you down to the locker room after the game” my aunt said pointing between her and my mom. The kids groaned but nodded in agreement. When we pulled up to the arena and the kids ran through the tunnel and down towards the dressing rooms. “We should go with them” my mother said to my aunt. “Kay, you can go get settled in the box if you want” my aunt said with a kind smile. “Actually, I think I’ll come with you”. Then we started walking.
Three pairs of heels clicked on the cement floor as we walked down towards the dressing rooms. I looked down one of the hallways and saw a player sitting down stretching out. I could hear the music playing in his headphones from 20 feet away. When the player turned around, I noticed a big smile spread across his face and when he stepped out of the shadow, I knew exactly who it was. “Um, I have to go to the bathroom” I said to my mom, “I’ll meet you guys down there in a few minutes”. I said turning around and walking down the hallway towards him.
“What are you doing?” I asked Sidney as I walked towards him. He was sitting on the ground against the wall with his legs out in front of him. “I’m getting focused” he said standing up. Even with heels on he was still a lot taller than me. “Oh” my voice dropped down to a whisper. “Well, good luck tonight” I said taking his hand. I gave it a squeeze and then turned to walk back down the hallway. Then I felt his hands grab my waist. He spun me around and gave me a long kiss. When we pulled apart he whispered “That’s all the luck I need”. I smiled at him, took his hand and pulled him to walk with me. He was silent for the 2 minute walk to the dressing room. When we entered the hallway where the team was preparing for the game, my uncle greeted us. “Look who I found” I said shoving Sidney down the hallway. “Good luck boys” I said to everyone, and then I gave my uncle a hug and went up to the box.

Letting Love In-Ch17

Chapter 17:
As we walked back into the house, he let go of my hand and said he dropped something. About ten steps later I felt something hard and cold hit my back. I turned around to see Sidney standing there with a huge toothy grin holding two snowballs. “You are so dead” I yelled bending down to make a ball. In the middle of his attack I sailed a snowball at him and hit him square in the back. Laughing hysterically, he ran towards me and picked me up over his shoulder. “Oh no, you are so dead” he said while swinging me around. Just then I had a great idea.
“Ow Sid! Put me down you’re hurting me!” I said in the most serious voice I could produce. When he set me on my feet, I fell over onto the ground. “Ughhh, my stomach!” I said. While I was rolling on the ground I picked up some snow in my hands. “Oh my god, Kay! I’m so sorry! Oh no! I’m sorry! What’s wrong? What hurts?” Sidney stammered out while bending down over me. I closed my eyes and tried really hard not to laugh at his facial expression. Pure fear and shock made his lips purse and form into a thin line, the redness of his face added to the utter cuteness I was witnessing. When he picked my head up with his hands, I reached my arms around his neck. Then I smashed two handfuls of cold snow onto the back of his neck. Then I burst out laughing. “Ha-ha, sucker!” I said between breaths. “Now that was not cool” he said standing up. I could tell he was trying to act serious, but the moment our eyes met, he burst out laughing.
He stuck his hand out towards me, and helped me up. As soon as I caught my balance I wrapped my hands around his waist and hugged him tight. He rested his hands on the small of my back and I let out a yawn. “I think you should go eat and get ready for bed” he said pulling away. “I guess I should” I muttered, “I guess I’ll see you later.” “If you get lonely, you know where I am” he said, I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and ran into the house.
My mother and father were sitting together watching Law and Order when I returned into the house. “Where have you been Kay?” my father questioned. “I was out in the gazebo reading and then I fell asleep. Then Sidney came out and we had a snowball fight” I said grabbing some of the pasta and meatballs that were still hot in the pan. “Oh alright, I was just checking” he said returning his attention to the show. “Kay honey, Amanda unpacked your things for you, so that is all set. Why don’t you go upstairs and head off to bed, we have a busy day tomorrow.” “What are we doing tomorrow?” I asked. “Well there is a game tomorrow night, so we will be doing some things in the morning and then we will be at the arena for most of the night” she informed. “Oh alright” I said. Then I picked up my plate and ran up to my room. “Finally, the first game” I said.
*********
After I ate, took a shower and got into my pajamas, I decided that I should just go to bed. I looked over at the clock. “10:00, time for bed” I thought. Before I turned out my light, I peeked out the window to see if Sidney’s light was on. Too bad for me, his drapes were shut tight.
I fell asleep quickly. I was still exhausted from the previous nights. I fell into a nice, comfortable sleep, but then I had a horrible dream that something had happened in the family and that I was at a funeral. I awoke in tears and looked at the clock, it read ‘2:36 a.m.’ I got out of bed and snuck downstairs, across the connecting foyer and into Sidney’s wing.
His door was open and I saw the faint light of his clock shining on the wall. I walked around to the other side of the bed [where he was facing] and snuggled in close to him. He must have been shaken awake by my movements because his eyes opened quickly. “Kay what’s wrong?” he said looking at the clock, “It’s quarter to three. What’s going on?”. “Nightmare” I said squeezing his arm, “Just needed someone to hold me.” He was silent and just pulled me closer. It didn’t take long for his steady heartbeat to lull me back to sleep.

Letting Love In-Ch16

Chapter 16:
I closed the door and turned around. With a sigh I hopped into the shower. After I was done blow-drying and straightening my hair, I put on a pair of Victoria’s Secret Pink sweatpants, with a matching sweatshirt and my tall chestnut colored Uggs. I finished packing up my Louis Vuttion carryon bag and looked at the clock. “10:28, Wow where did all the time go?” I thought while putting on my Burberry jacket and scarf. Walking towards the door, I took a deep breath, enjoying the mixed smell of hairspray, shampoo, dance bags and IcyHot lotion. The few months here was some of the best of my life. “It’s time to move on, and hey, maybe I’ll be back here in a few months” I said closing the door and dropping the key off at the Administrative desk in the front foyer.
My car was there waiting when I rounded the corner, my bags had been taken by the housing staff, so I checked with the driver to make sure everything was packed. Our drive to the airport seemed very short. I got out of the car into the crisp winter air, and within twenty minutes I was sitting in the terminal waiting. As we boarded my excitement grew and grew. I took my seat in first class [as always] and began to relax. I watched Sweet Home Alabama on my iPod, and in what seemed like no time at all, the pilot announced we would be landing in about 10 minutes and that we should be prepared because there was a fresh blanket of snow.
Kevin greeted me when I walked down the hallway of the airport. “Hello Miss Kay!” he said giving me a quick squeeze, “The bags are in the car, your family is very excited to see you. Let’s hurry now; we don’t want to get caught in more snow!”. We walked out into the cold air, and quickly got into the car. Our drive took about forty five minutes.
When we reached the house, my excitement was almost to the point where I could pop. I walked into the foyer of my house and was hit by hugs from all of my family. Everyone except Sidney was there. “Welcome home!” everyone cheered. “Kay, we waited to have lunch, so come on, let’s eat!” my mother said, directing me in towards the dining room. I told everyone about my new friends, and about the new dances I learned. Then I passed around my camera to show everyone the pictures and videos that I took while I was there. After about an hour and a half of laughing and telling stories, I started to get very tired.
“Mom, did the yard workers put the windows and heater in the gazebo yet?” I asked my mother. The gazebo has the option of adding on insulated glass windows around the top and a type of wood around the bottom with a heater so that a person can sit in it during the winter without freezing to death. “Yes they did, about two weeks ago” she said taking a swig of water. “Well I think I’m going to grab a book and sit out there with some hot chocolate for a while” I said getting up.
As I walked up the stairs I could only wonder where Sidney was. He was probably at a practice of something to do with the press I thought. I went into my room and looked around. It had been well cleaned, and my sheets were changed from the Egyptian cotton to a flannel with a cute blue lace trim. I went down my hallway into a small closet that held everything I had for the winter. I opened a cabinet at the top of the closet and pulled out an old plaid flannel and fleece blanket. Then I went over to my book case and picked out a cheap romance novel. Then I went into the kitchen and picked up the over sized mug full to the brim with hot chocolate. I trotted along the path to the gazebo and opened the sliding door that was installed in the back. I turned on the overhead light, and then I snuggled into the bench [which now had red cushions on it with a matching throw pillow] and put my hot chocolate on the table.
Looking out into the view of the city amazed me. I couldn’t concentrate on my book, so I set it down and just looked out the glass windows. I must have drifted off to sleep because the next thing I knew I opened my eyes to see Sidney sitting on the end of the bench staring out the window. “Sidney” I squealed, waking up extremely fast. “Well hello stranger” he said. I couldn’t help myself; I jumped onto his lap and gave him a long, passionate kiss.
“I missed you too” he said when we finally broke apart. I sat there on his lap for a long time, during which we talked about everything that had happened in the past weeks while I had been gone. “I missed you so much Kay” he said, and kissed my temple. “I miss you too.” Then I looked at his watch, “It’s almost 7:00. We should go inside” I said standing up. Then he stood up, took my hand and led me back to the house.

Letting Love In-Ch15

Chapter 15:
Time dwindled down until I only had one week left at the conservatory. I had talked to Sidney off and on, but we were both busy with our different activities.
Meanwhile, classes continued and everyone was preparing for the small showcase that would come tomorrow, Saturday, night. I was sitting on my floor packing up all of my clothes and pictures when my Blackberry buzzed and it said “New Voicemail”. I quickly checked the inbox.
“Hello Kay, its Uncle Mario. I just wanted to let you know that on Sunday morning you will be picked up around 10:30 in a town car by the same company who dropped you off. You need to be ready by 10:00 and have everything packed up, except for your carry-on of course. When you arrive to the airport, you will be at gate 18 and your plane leaves at 12:25 sharp. Kevin will be picking you up from there. I hope you have a good flight. And Kay, work your magic at the showcase tomorrow, I know you will do great.”
At his last line, I smiled. It was very reassuring to hear words of encouragement. Just then Jess walked into the room. “Kay, it’s time to go to dinner”. “Dinner, already? Wow I must have lost track of time” I said standing up. “Well, don’t just stand there blabbing… I’m hungry!” she said laughing. “I’m coming, I’m coming” I said running after her. We arrived in the dining hall and quickly grabbed our last dinner we would all be sharing. We sat with all our new friends, and ate for about 45 minutes and everyone exchanged e-mails and phone numbers [if we didn’t already have them]. Then Jess went back to the dorm and I decided I’d take a walk. When I was halfway around the campus, Sidney called.
“Well hello there” he said into the phone. “Hello yourself” I said back. We talked about our days and then there was a pause. “I don’t really have a while to talk” he said, “But I wanted to tell you that I cannot wait for you to come home on Sunday and I expect you to be in my room with lights out by 11.” I started giggling and I could feel the heat burning into my cheeks. “Well Sid, I can’t wait to see you either, but we’ll have to see about that.” “Aw come on, you can’t resist” he said. “Maybe I can, but I have to go, I have a busy day tomorrow.” “Alright Kay, see you soon. And good luck tomorrow night”, “Thank you Sid, see you Sunday.” I hung up the phone and walked into my room, took a shower and then went to bed.
I woke up ready for a busy day. Jess and I got a quick breakfast and headed to our rehearsals. We had many dances to perform tonight, and all of them needed polishing. After our ballet and lyrical rehearsals, we had a conditioning class. During that time our teacher let us practice what we needed to instead of getting too tired with our workout routine. After a big lunch we had a half hour to get everything ready for the performance. I got all my makeup ready along with my hair products so I wouldn’t be rushing around later.
After the remainder of our classes, Jess and I went to the dorm and got dressed. “I’m going to miss you helping me with my hair” Jess said as I pulled an elastic around her french braid. “I’m going to miss it too” I said looking at her in the mirror. “Let’s rock this showcase” I said pumping my fist in the air. Within twenty minutes we were all ready to go.
*********
The showcase went wonderfully. I hit all my turns, and everyone’s moves were crisp and together. At the end I was offered a scholarship to spend the spring semester there too. The agent said he would be calling for me after the New Year. I was very excited, until Sidney came to my mind. It was getting late, so Jess and I said goodbye to everyone and made our way back to the dorm. After finishing packing and showering, I slowly drifted off to sleep.
I woke up a little before 8:00 and realized that Jess would be leaving in a half hour. I heard the door open, and sure enough it was Jess. She threw a small bag at me and said “Chocolate croissant. It’s been weeks since we’ve eaten any junk food”. She set down a tea on my desk and turned on the TV. “God Jess, I’m going to be so lonely without you. I really hope that we are able to visit each other a lot.” “Yeah and I hope you come back for the spring semester. I’m only going to be out of here for two months. If you don’t come back I might have some crazy girl as a roomie.” I laughed and started eating. Then when the weather man said it was 8:25, Jess stood up and gathered her things. “Well, I guess this is goodbye” she said sighing. We gave each other a bear hug and I watched her walk down the hallway, tears in her eyes.

Letting Love In-Ch14

Chapter 14:

I woke up around 7:00, and put my leotard and tights on with a cute warm-up sweater and pants. A few minutes later, I was ready to go to breakfast. Jess and I ate a light meal and headed off to ballet. That was probably the hardest ballet class I’ve ever had to take in my life. Next was tap, which was a nice break from stretching. The teacher was really cool too. Then I had my pointe class. Jess wasn’t in that class but Micah was, and we quickly made friends with many girls in that class. During my lunch block I went back to the dorm with my sandwich and turned on the TV.
“Hockey’s newest superstar will take the ice for his first NHL pre-season game this Saturday at 7:00 p.m.” said a broadcaster. Then it showed a clip of whom else, but Sidney. His voice then came on over the video clip. “For sure, this is going to be exciting. It’s a great experience and I can’t wait to start up my career. Staring at the TV I realized how much I missed him. I sighed, stood up, threw out my sandwich rapper, and headed off to my second round of classes.
That was how it was for the first few days. I had grown really close to Jess, Micah and Brianna. We always hung out with each other and had a tradition where we would eat lunch together every day. I talked to my family almost every day, but my feeling of being home-sick slowly faded away. I would check my cell phone for a new text message every once in a while, but nothing ever was there. That was until Saturday night after the first preseason game. “Oh my gosh” I gasped.
Inbox (1 new message):
From: unknown
Kay- I scored that goal for you tonight. I really hope you are having fun.
Enjoy my jersey; it’s the first from the draft. Only 53 days left until you
come home. Miss you every minute. Xo Sid :)
“Oh my gosh” I said looking at my phone. “The first jersey, from the… the draft. Wow” I ran over to my desk and picked up the jersey and put it on. Then I took a picture of me wearing it with a big smile.

Sid- Your goal was amazing. Sorry for the loss though. I’ll be watching every game. Don’t have too much fun without me. See you in 53 days.
I miss you too. Xoxo- Kay. P.s. I hope you like the picture.
I attached the picture to the message and sent it. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep. It is going to be a tiring and long 53 days.

*************
After 4 weeks of texting Sidney almost twice a day [in-between lunch and when I went to bed], and managing to get in some 5 minute long conversation on the phone, we finally had a night to actually talk for more than a few minutes. I was sitting on a bench outside in the courtyard when he called.
“It is so good to hear your voice without any background” he said when I picked up. After a few minutes of him telling me about his days, he chirped up.”So how’s the conservatory? Are you having fun? How are your new friends? How are your teachers?” “Whoa! Slow down there eager beaver” I said with a laugh, “One question at a time”. “Sorry” he said “I’m just really happy that you are having fun. Although I bet you miss sleeping next to me”. The thought of his body pressed against mine made me smile in delight. “Well” I said with a sigh, “That I do miss. But everything is great here; you don’t need to worry about me. I’ll be fine.” “So, there isn’t any, um, new boys that you’ve been talking to are there?” he asked, I could tell he was nervous for the answer. “No” I said flat out, “Really?” he asked surprised. “Yes Sidney, I made up my mind the second I left that I’m here for dancing, not to find another boyfriend. There aren’t any new girls for you… are there?” I said, not really knowing what to expect. “No Kay. I told you once, and I’ll tell you again, no one will replace you.” I grinned from ear to ear as the 10:00 chime rang from the clock at the top of the library. “It’s already ten” Sidney almost whispered into the phone, “I think you should go get all snuggled into bed and go to sleep.” He sounded so cute on the other end I could feel my cheeks burning with heat. “Yes daddy” I said giggling, “Goodnight Sidney”. “Goodnight… Oh and Kay?” he asked quickly, “Don’t call me daddy again, unless we’re in the bedroom.” Shocked at his response, all I could manage was a squeak and then I heard his laugh, and the phone went dead.

Chapter 13:

The whole ride to the airport all I did was play with my new phone. When I turned it on, I saw that the background was set to a picture of the whole family. “They must have taken this before I came downstairs” I said to myself smiling, although I was a little disappointed that Sidney wasn’t in the picture. I looked at the contacts and saw that the whole family and all of my friends’ numbers were in it. Just as I finished setting up the internet, we arrived at the airport.
I stepped out into the cool air and took a deep breath. Kevin took all of my luggage and put it on a cart while I grabbed my purse filled with the essentials for the flight. Kevin checked my luggage in to the first class desk and he sent me off to the terminal. “Now Kay” he said to me sternly, “You will sit here until your flight is called to board in about a half an hour. Your mother and father have arranged for a car to pick you up at the airport in Massachusetts. All you need to worry about is this backpack, all your other luggage will be handled by the driver”. “Alright” I said nodding, partly paying attention to him and partly worrying about the flight. I gave him a hug, sat down and watched him walk away.
About 25 minutes later, the plane started boarding. I walked up to the airport personnel and gave her my ticket. With a kind smile she wished me a good flight. I found my seat and sat down. About twenty minutes later the pilot announced that we would be taking off very soon. According to schedule we took off 5 minutes later. I took out a book and began to read.
Two hours later we landed, and I exited into the terminal to find my driver waiting. When everything was packed into the car we took off for the conservatory. Not long after we drove out of the airport, we were driving into the Boston Conservatory. I was shown to my dorm and introduced to my roommate.
“Hi there, I’m Jessica, what’s your name?” “Kay” I said to her in the nicest voice as possible, “Very nice to meet you” she said with a smile. I noticed her southern accent, “So where are you from?” I asked pulling my trunks in from the hallway. “I’m from Tennessee, what about you?”“Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania” I said. “Oh cool” she said, “Well I’ll give you some time to unpack and set up your area” she said pointing to the full size bed, equipped with drawers underneath, the desk, dresser and wardrobe. “Thank you” I said to her, “Later on we can get some dinner together.” “That would be great” she said walking out of the room. I took out my sheets and made my bed, then unpacked all my dance clothes and put them into the drawers underneath my bed.
I took out one of the trunks with my regular clothes and lifted it onto my bed. When I opened it, I saw a Penguin’s jersey laying there. I picked it up and looked on the back… ‘Crosby’ 87. “Oh my gosh” I said. I sat there staring at it for a few minutes; just then my phone started vibrating in my pocket. “Hey mom” I said into the phone, “Honey, how are you?” “I’m fine mom, just unpacking my things”. “Oh that’s good, what’s wrong honey, you seem flustered?” “Well I opened up my clothes trunk and I found a jersey with Sidney’s number on it, I think I just miss him”, “Oh that is so sweet well I have to go, call me later when you get fully settled”, “Alright mom”, “Love you sweetie”.
I put the jersey on my bed and unpacked the rest of my clothes. I put up all of my pictures of my friends on the bulletin board behind my desk. Just then Jessica walked in. “Hey Kay are you ready for dinner?” “Yeah let me just get my purse” I grabbed my purse off the table and threw on a pair of flip flops. We walked outside to the dining hall where a bunch of people were gathered eager to meet new people. We got in line behind two other girls that were from a room down the hall from us. “Hi I’m Micah” (pronounced my-kuh), “And this is my twin Brianna, but you can tell us apart because I have highlights and she doesn’t.” We all laughed and found a table to sit and eat at. After an hour of talking to each other, learning about where we were from and such, Jessica and I decided to go and get everything ready for our first dance class tomorrow. “Hey, we’re in that class too!” Brianna said with a smile. Then we exchanged numbers and went back to the dorm.
When we got back, there were two big envelopes with our entire schedules in them. Jessica and I had ballet, lyrical, tap, and conditioning together. I had three classes before lunch with a break in between each one. Then I had a 2 hour block for lunch, and four classes after that. My classes were over by 6:30 each night. “Perfect” I said out loud. “What?” Jessica said popping her head out of the bathroom brushing her teeth. “Nothing” I said looking over at the jersey. “I’ll be able to get dinner and bring it back here to watch the game” I said in my head. After Jess was done, I took a quick shower and quickly fell asleep.

Letting Love In-Ch12

Chapter 12:

I walked into the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror. “How can she know?” I thought to myself. Then I turned on the sink and splashed some cool water on my face. I looked down at my clothes; I still had my bathing suit on. So I walked into the closet and took out a pair of jean shorts and a grey and white tunic. Then I walked downstairs to go to dinner.
“Ah, here she is” my father said, giving me a hug. “Yeah, I just had to um, freshen up” I said back to him putting on my best fake smile. Just then Sidney walked into the kitchen with Uncle Mario. “Hello everyone” my uncle said kindly. “Excuse me, but dinner is served in the dining room” Amanda poked her head in the room and smiled politely. “Thank you Amanda” my father said. “Let’s eat” my mom said looking from Sidney over to me and we took our seats at opposite ends of the table. I was very quiet at dinner, mostly staring at my plate, not wanted to catch Sidney’s glances towards me.
It was around dessert when my brother asked me if I was excited to leave in two days. “Yes, I am” I managed to stammer out. “I think I will enjoy the conservatory very much”. I then looked over towards Sid, who was trying not to protest about me leaving. Right then I grew very sad, and finished my cookie very quickly. “May I be excused?” I asked my parents, “Sure honey, make sure you have everything ready to go shopping tomorrow. Kevin will be taking you at nine a.m. sharp.” My father said in reply. With that I stood up and walked out of the room and outside, and then I heard footsteps behind me.
“Kay wait up” I heard him call. I kept walking towards the gazebo and when I finally got there I sat down and felt a warm hand on my shoulder. I didn’t say anything to him for a while, he stood there behind me, like he was holding me up and I didn’t know what to say. I tilted my head into his hand, “I’m sorry” I whispered, it was so faint even I almost couldn’t understand what I was saying. Then he sat down next to me, staring out into the distance. “Don’t be” he said after a few minutes went by. I couldn’t help it, I started crying. It was silent though. “I... I have to go” I said and I ran back to my room and slammed the door.
I must have fallen asleep on my bed when I went back into my room because the next thing I knew Amanda was knocking on my door at 7:30. “Miss Kay, please get up and get ready, Kevin will be picking you up in an hour and a half.” I muttered an “Ok” and rolled over. I had a horrible headache, and the sunlight didn’t make it any better. I dragged myself to the shower and let the hot water run over my temples. I felt a little better as I got out and dried off. After blow-drying my hair and putting it in a high ponytail, I pulled on a pair of Juicy Couture sweat shorts and a matching zip-up sweatshirt. Then I found a pair of matching flip flops. Then I picked up my purse and shopping list, and slowly made my way to the kitchen.
“There was a message left for you this morning Miss Kay” Amanda said quietly to me as she handed a bowl of cheerios to me. She then slid a piece of paper across the counter. It read:

Kay- I know that you are feeling really bad about leaving tomorrow. I promise you everything will be alright. Please come to my wing tonight at 8:30, I have a surprise for you.
-Sidney
“When did he leave this?” I asked Amanda, “Before he and your uncle left for practice” she replied. Just then Kevin walked into the kitchen, “It is time to leave for your shopping trip Miss Kay” he said. “Alright, if I don’t leave now, I never will” I said to him standing up and walking to the car.
I went to about 15 stores and bought everything I needed, and a little more. What can I say, when I’m upset, I know how to buy my way out of situations. It was 4:45 when Kevin was driving me home and of course we hit rush hour traffic. A forty-five minute ride took us almost two hours. When we returned home I carried my bags upstairs and set everything aside for Amanda to wash. Then I headed downstairs to see that my family was waiting for me. They had prepared my favorite meal; Grilled chicken, with rice, mixed veggies and cornbread. “Thank you so much for this dinner” I said sitting down. I looked around the table to see that my uncle and Sidney were not in attendance. “Where are Uncle Mario and Sidney?” I asked casually to my mother. “They have a late practice and won’t be home for another few minutes” she said. The dinner was very casual and very nice. I started to grow more and more tired so I asked if I could be excused and went up to my room.
Meanwhile, I finished packing all of my clothes, shoes, and makeup into my Luis Vuttion duffle bags and my mom had come in and told me that I would be picked up to leave at 9:00 sharp. I would need to have everything ready by 8:30 to be loaded into the car and that my flight would take off at 10:48. Then she gave me a credit card for my spending there and some other informational things about the conservatory. I looked at the clock, “8:50, crap” I said jumping up and finding a pair of pajama’s to wear. After I changed, I ran down the stairs and out through the back to Sidney’s wing. I knocked on the door three times, and then I heard “Who is it?” called out in an angry tone from the other side. “It’s me” I squeaked out. Then the door opened and I looked up through my glassy eyes and saw Sidney staring down at me. His expression turned from hard and angry to soft and caring in a matter of seconds. “Come on” he said softly taking my hand. We walked upstairs to his room and when he opened the door, there was a bowl of popcorn and one blanket on the bed. “What’s this?” I asked him quietly. “This” he said pointing to the bed and popcorn, “Is what you are going to be doing your last night home.” Then I sat down next to him on the bed, and fell asleep within twenty minutes.
I woke up at 7:00 already with tears in my eyes. I managed to get out of Sidney’s arms without waking him up. I kissed his cheek very softly and picked up the blanket that was wrapped around me. I walked over to the door, and with only one look back I went back to my room. I got out of the shower and put on a pair of dance warm-ups, which was a baby pink sweater with a grey tank top underneath and a pair of matching grey capri pants. Amanda came into my room around 8:30 with Kevin to help with my bags and I sat on the veranda watching the morning clouds pass by. With one deep breath I stood up and walked downstairs.
I had a whole line of people to say my goodbyes to. My cousins were first, and they each gave me a picture they had drawn, and my arms were filled with hugs. Then was my brother, who gave me a stuffed ballerina bunny doll and said to take it for good luck. Next was my aunt who gave me a big hug and said if I ever needed anything to call her. Then it was my father, who hugged me tightly before handing me a new Blackberry phone. “I figured you would need this more than your other one, and that you could figure out how to use it on the ride to the airport” he said with a smile. “Thank you so much” I squealed and hugged him again. My mother was next down the line and she just hugged me very tight. “Knock them dead Kay, and don’t hurt yourself too much” she said. Uncle Mario was next, as I hugged him; I felt something being dropped into my pocket. “Use this wisely” he said with a smile.
It was after I was done hugging and saying goodbye to everyone that I noticed Sid wasn’t there. I held back my tears as I got into the car and I found a note waiting on my seat. It read:
Kay- I’m sorry I could not be here to see you off. I will try to make contact with you whenever I can. Hopefully you can watch the games while you are at the conservatory. I will miss you so much, but don’t worry about me. Have a great time.
XO-Sidney

I sighed to myself and slipped the note into my pocket, it was then that I felt the thing that uncle Mario had put in my pocket. I the thing out and looked at it. It was a Penguins Visa card. “Wow” I said to myself. And then the car drove away.

Letting Love In-Ch11

Chapter 11:

We fell asleep and stayed like that for a while. Then I woke up around 5:00. He was still sleeping, peacefully and was still holding onto me closely. I was so warm and comfortable that I decided to just stay there. I fell back to sleep hugging Sid a little tighter. I don’t really know what time it was, but I woke up to Sid’s voice in my ear. “Kay, wake up” he whispered. “No” I said with a small laugh. Then he sat up and stretched out. I could see every muscle in his back through is tight t-shirt. It made me blush just thinking about how gorgeous he is. “You should probably go back to your house” he said standing up. “You’re right” I said, “but it’s going to be hard to sneak back”. I stood up and walked over to him. He was much taller than I was, it was almost over powering. “See you at breakfast” he said. Then he gave me a kiss on the cheek, and I walked towards the door and down the stairs. Before I turned the handle of the door, I turned around and looked upstairs. I could already hear the shower running.
I walked out to the stone patio and looked around. People were awake, I could hear them. Then the smell of fresh cooked bacon and pancakes filtered through the air from the kitchen. I walked in and saw Amanda hovering over the stove. I quickly ran upstairs and looked at the clock. “8:30” I said aloud and walked into the bathroom and started the shower. When I was done, I blow-dried my hair and spun the ends into loose curls. Then I walked into my closet and grabbed a pair of white shorts and a light pink baby-doll t-shirt and a skinny yellow leather belt to go with the shorts. Then I picked out a gold necklace with a dancer on it, and a gold charm bracelet. I applied a light amount of makeup and put a spritz of perfume on. Then I headed downstairs.
Uncle Mario was walking in right as I walked down the stairs. “Oh,” he said “there you are, it’s time to eat” he said with a smile. I walked out to the table and sat down next to Sidney. “Good morning everyone” I said with a bright smile. Then Amanda and Nancy brought out breakfast. After a few minutes of casual talk with everyone, Uncle Mario looked in my direction. “Kay, you know that dance program at that conservatory in Massachusetts you and your mother had been talking about?” he asked. “Yeah” I said looking up at him. “Well we decided that you are going to go for a few weeks. Maybe even a month or two” he said casually. “Really?” I almost screamed. “Yes” he said laughing, “Your cousins and brother are starting school again soon, Sidney and I will be starting more practices and pre-season games, you’re aunt has to work, and so do your mother and father. So you would be bored doing nothing but going to the arena.” “When would I leave?” I asked him. “This coming Tuesday he said. “Are you serious?” I asked, now feeling kind of nervous. “Yes I am” he said, “You have a good two days to pack and go shopping for anything else you need.”
I looked over at Sidney. He was playing with his food with a blank expression on his face. “Well that’s wonderful” I said, half truly and half sarcastic. I finished up my second pancake, and asked to be excused. It was 10:45 when I got back to my room. I sat down on my bed, wondering what to do. “I like Sidney, everything is going good, I can’t leave him now. What if he meets someone new?” I thought to myself, now pacing around my room. “They could have told me this a lot sooner” I said, talking to myself. Then I heard a knock on my door. It was Uncle Mario. “Kay we’re going to go to the arena, would you like to come with us?” he asked. “Not today Uncle Mario, I’ve got a lot of things to do” I said. “Alright, well we will be back around 2:00” he said closing the door.
I walked over to my dance dressers and emptied them onto the floor. Six pairs of tights, fourteen leotards, three different sets of warm-ups, and five pairs of legwarmers. I made neat piles on the floor next to the mirror. Then I gathered all my shoes together. “New ballet shoes” I said to myself holding up a pair of shoes that were ripped and stained grey from the floor. I left my dance clothes on the floor and walked out to the veranda. I couldn’t concentrate. I decided I would go lie outside for a while and maybe take a nap. I put on a black bathing suit and a pair of little black shorts. Then I put my hair in a pony tail, grabbed a towel and headed towards the pool.
I was enjoying the warm sunlight. It was nearing the end of August, so it wasn’t as hot as it used to be. I rolled onto my stomach and dozed off quickly. I woke up to the slamming of a car door. Then I heard my Uncle Mario saying something to Sidney about the team. “Great” I said sitting up. I gathered my things and walked into the house. “Hello Miss Kay” Amanda said quietly while folding laundry. “Did you know about me leaving?” I asked her, “Yes I did, but I only found out early this morning” she said with a frown. “Oh” I said. Then I grabbed a slice of homemade pizza off of a baking sheet on the oven and walked upstairs. With anger and sadness building inside of me I kicked over my neat piles of clothes. “Why did this happen to me now” I asked my reflection.
I was sitting on the veranda, practically in tears when I heard a knock on my door. I didn’t answer. “Kay?” It was Sidney. “Uh, back here” I said wiping my eyes. He walked through the doors and immediately knew something was wrong. He threw his arm around me and pulled me close. Then I broke down. “I’m so sorry Sidney” I managed to say through sniffles. “I understand” he said with hurt in his voice. He sat there holding me for a good five minutes and then took my hands and made me stand up. He pulled me into my room and we sat down on the bed.
Then he gently took my face in his hands and wiped away my tears. “Kay” he began to say, “It’s only for a few weeks, I swear I’ll be okay. No one is going to replace you.” “Really?” I said, beginning to calm down. “Of course” he whispered, then kissing my forehead. “I know how much this means to you, and I want you to be happy. Even if that means getting out of here for a while” he said. “I’m going to start being really busy anyways, so this would make me feel less bad about leaving you all the time” he continued. I couldn’t even look him in the eyes. “You should start packing and making your shopping list” he said standing up. “Yeah, you’re right” I said with a sigh. Then before I knew it, I was alone in my room.
I walked over to my kicked over piles of clothes and picked them back up. “He must be right” I said to myself, “This is going to be the best thing for us”. Somehow I tricked myself into thinking everything was going to be alright. I put my dance clothes in a big Louis Vuttion trunk and then walked into my closet. The conservatory was in Massachusetts and it was almost September and I would be there until late November, so I would need to bring both warm and cold weather clothes. I picked out about 25 shirts, both short and long sleeve, a lot of different colored camisoles and tank tops. Then I put out a few pairs of shorts, capri pants, and jeans. And then I took out about 15 pairs of pajamas. I needed a few new pairs of nice pants, and a few dresses to wear. So I wrote that down on my shopping list too. I took out three pairs of Ugg boots, five pairs of heels, two pairs of sneakers and eight pairs of flip flops. You would swear I was leaving the house forever. I had four huge piles of clothes in the center of my closet.
I heard the car door slam around 5:00 and then I heard everyone coming inside. “We’re home” my mother yelled up to me. When I didn’t answer her, or come out of my room, she came up and knocked on my door. “Kay honey, are you alright” she asked walking in. “Yeah” I called from the closet. She walked down the small hallway and saw me sitting on the floor surrounded by clothes. “So your uncle told you that you’re leaving on Tuesday?” she asked picking up some socks on the floor. “Yeah” I said standing up. “Mom there’s something I need to tell you” I said. “Yes honey” she asked, seeming to get a bit nervous. “I think I’m falling in love with Sidney” I said. “I’ve been waiting for you to say that” she said with a smile. “What?” I asked, very confused. “Honey, I could tell from the first time we all ate breakfast together that there was something going on between you two. I don’t think anyone else can tell, but me being your mother, I saw the smile you gave him and how nice you were being”. “So you aren’t mad?” I said, shocked. “Why would I be mad sweetheart? Sidney is one of the nicest boys I have ever met, he is not like any other boy you have liked before. I know for a fact he would not do anything inappropriate, or try to hurt you in any way”. I just stood there and looked at her with a blank expression. “Well, we will be eating in a few minutes. So why don’t you freshen up then come and join us” she said. Then she walked out of the closet and went downstairs.

Letting Love In-Ch10

Chapter 10:

“Sidney?” I yelled walking into his living room. “Yeah?” he said walking down the stairs, shirtless, and holding a towel. “Oh sorry I didn’t knock” I started to say, caught a little off guard by his clothing situation. “That’s alright” he said drying off his abs. “Well I just wanted to know if you wanted some pasta and sauce since I’m making myself dinner tonight” I asked while looking down at the ground. “That sounds great” he said flashing a smile. “Be in my kitchen in 20 minutes” I said to him walking out the door. “Sweet” I heard him say after I shut the door. I smiled and ran back to my house.
I went into my room, and picked out a pink Ralph Lauren short sleeve sweater, a super short denim miniskirt and a pair of white gold studs. I took my hair out of a pony tail, and let it hang loose around my shoulders. Then I took out my new diamond ballet shoe necklace and touched up my makeup. I went downstairs into the kitchen and filled up a fancy pot with water, then took some frozen sauce out of the freezer that Amanda or Nancy had already made. I put the pasta in the water and the sauce in another pan to heat up. Then I took out two blue placemats and put them outside on the table. The weather was perfectly warm, with a nice breeze. I went back inside, took out two plates and put two scoops of tender pasta on each. I topped them perfectly with sauce, and put them on the oven to keep warm. I grabbed a bread basket out of the cabinet and filled it with whole wheat rolls. I brought the basket, butter and a pitcher of ice water outside all at once. I then put all the dishes in the dishwasher, and as I closed the door, Sidney walked in.
“Smells great” he said walking over to me. I handed him the glasses and napkins and gave him a small “Thanks” in reply. He then looked around the kitchen as to where to put the glasses. “Not in here” I said walking in front of him, “Here” I said when I reached the outside table. “Fancy”, he said putting the glasses down. We sat down and began to eat. “You are a good cook” he said looking up at me. “Thanks” I said smiling, “But all I did was cook some pasta and reheat some sauce”. “Well, that’s good enough in my book” he said taking a sip of water. “Have you ever had an Oreo pizza?” I asked him, “No” he said. “Well we’re going to change that”. We finished eating a few minutes later. “I’m going to call Domino’s” I said to him standing up. I walked into the house, flexing my calf muscles just in case he happened to be looking. After I hung up the phone, I heard the clanking of dishes in the sink. I turned around to see Sid standing there with all the dishes from off the table. “Thank you” I said softly, relieved I didn’t have to go back outside. “No, thank you” he said, “Dinner was amazing, you didn’t have to do this.” “We have 30 minutes” I said to him with a smile, “Then we can pig out on a chocolaty piece of heaven.” “What do you want to do?” he asked, “I want to show you something” I said taking his hand and walking up to my room.
We got to the door, and my heart was racing. “Alright” I said with a shaky voice, “This is my very private spot. I don’t let a lot of people see in here, only the people I really trust.” I put the emphasis on really trust. “Whatever you see in here means a lot to me, and you aren’t allowed to laugh at any embarrassing pictures.” “Alright” he said looking into my eyes. Then I opened the door. He noticed the pink walls, with flowers in the corner of every wall, and how I had some different color stripes on the walls too. Then he saw my corner with my computer desk, and my book case. Then his eyes wandered to the ballet bar, mirror, and the small dresser and table dedicated to everything dance. He saw all the open windows, and felt the cool summer breeze blowing in. He saw the hallway where my closet and bathroom were, and the French doors leading to the veranda. He saw the large bed, with beige and pink blankets on it. Then he saw the thing that most attracted his gaze and walked over to it. “Wow” he said. He was looking at my shrine of hockey memorabilia. “This place is amazing” he said turning around to look at me, “Every place in here shows your personality in a different way. I love it.” I walked over to the French doors, and stepped out onto the veranda, and he followed. I leaned against the railing and looked out into the view of the city. Then I felt his arm around my shoulder. “Out here” he started saying, “Everything is so peaceful and beautiful. It really makes you forget about the worries of your life.” “I know” I said getting closer to him. I looked him in his eyes, and then the doorbell rang.
“Yes” I said running out of my room and down the stairs. I shoved 20 dollars into the delivery boys hand and then raced into the kitchen. “That looks like its really fattening” Sidney said walking into the kitchen. “Who cares” I said cutting a piece off and walking over to him. “Eat it” I said holding the piece up to his face. “Kay I don’t” he said trying to stop me, “Eat it!” I yelled at him, and of course he gave in and took a bite. “That is amazing” he said taking the piece out of my hand. We stood in the kitchen for 5 minutes eating piece after piece of pizza. By now it was 9:30 and I knew I had to make a move soon. “Um, do you want to watch a movie tonight Sid?” I asked, hoping he would say yes. “That sounds good” he said. “Yes” I thought. “Well if you want to go clean up and stuff” he said putting his pizza down “I’ll be up in my room.” “Alright” I said. Then when he was out of sight, I ran up stairs and into my bedroom.
This time I wore navy blue shorts and a grey tank top. I took off my jewelry and put my hair into a teased ponytail. Then I put some lotion on my legs so they would have a healthy glow to them. After I brushed my teeth and rinsed with mouthwash (I wanted to smell good), I put on some clean citrus smelling perfume and some pink natural lip gloss. I grabbed a white blanket out of my closet, took one last look in the mirror, and then ran down the stairs.
This time I knocked on his door. He must have been walking by, because after three knocks it was open. He was standing there in a white t-shirt and black mesh shorts, holding a bottle of water. “Come in” he said with a cheesy grin. I walked into the entryway and up the stairs to his room. “I’ll be right there” he called up to me, “Okay” I yelled back walking into his room. It was very clean; he had piles of folded laundry in the corner of the room, and a few notebooks and a laptop in proper place on his desk. I opened up the notebook that was entitled “Plays”. I could barely read his chicken scratch handwriting. I turned to the last page that he had been writing on, and in the corner I noticed my name with a heart around it. I started to smile when I heard him come into the room. “What are you looking at?” he asked casually. “Oh just some of the plays that are in here for practice” I said closing the book and putting it down. “Well there really aren’t any good movies I could find” he said sitting on the bed, “So we’ll just have to watch TV.” “Fine with me” I said sitting down next to him. I took the remote out of his hand and turned on the first chick flick I could find. “Sorry Kay, but no way am I watching a chick flick”. “You made me watch a movie that I’ve seen 100 times the other night, so now it’s your turn to suffer” I said laughing at him. “Fine, but this is just because I like you” he said.
It was 10:00 and the movie had ended. We decided to shut the TV off. We sat there in silence for a while. “I’m cold” I said to him while pulling my blanket onto me. Then without hesitation he came closer to me and put his arm around me. Then he pulled another blanket onto him. “Better?” he asked with a smile. “Yes, much” I said to him snuggling closer. “Kay, I wanted to ask you something” he said, “Okay” I said looking up towards him. “Well, do you have feelings for me that are more than just friends?” he said, acting a bit nervous. “Yes I do” I said back, “But the thing is, I don’t know why but I have a really hard time letting people into my life. And sometimes I try and run away from those good feelings I get because I’m afraid to get hurt. When I came in here the other night, I wanted to tell you I liked you, but I just couldn’t bring myself to say it.” “I understand” he said pulling me a little closer. “I just want you to know, that I really like you Kay” he said softly, “And anytime you feel like you are ready to take the next step, I’ll be here waiting. Then I looked up at him, and kissed him on the lips. It was that point where I realized this was the real thing, and that Sidney was a person I could trust with anything, and that our relationship had just started.

Chapter 9:

“You look cute today” Amanda said, handing me a bowl of fruit. “Thank you” I said back with a smile. “We will be leaving in 5 minutes Miss” Kevin said walking into the kitchen. I quickly ate my fruit, went back upstairs to brush my teeth, grabbed my Pittsburgh Penguins sport jacket, and then headed out to the car.
“Good morning Kay” Uncle Mario said. “Good morning to you too” I said flashing a smile as I got in the car. “Hello Sidney” I said politely. “Hi” he said back, but not looking at me. “Is everyone excited for our trip to the arena?” Uncle Mario asked. “Yes” Sidney and I said at the same time. As we drove on the highway, Uncle Mario was busy talking on the phone, and Sidney was looking out the window. I took this time to look at him very closely. He was wearing a pair of grey pants, with a navy blue polo. He had a nice tan on his arms and face. He saw me looking at him, and smiled at me. I blushed and looked away.
Soon we arrived at the arena. “Finally” I said running for the door, “I’ll be in the stands Uncle Mario” I yelled to him from the entryway. I sat down in a section on center ice and watched the workers lay out the ice. I must have been watching for a long time, because they had finished putting the water down, and it was already being smoothed. I decided to go to the dressing rooms. As I walked down the hallway, I was greeted by the smiling faces of the arena employees. Then I entered the dark hallway leading to the dressing rooms. I went into the dressing room, sat down on the bench, and looked at the empty stalls. “You know, my name is going to be right there” Sidney said walking in and pointing to the stall next to the wall. I just smiled at him. “You must really love it here Kay” he said sitting down next to me. “Yeah” I said back with a blank expression. Then we sat there in silence for about 5 minutes.
“You kids ready to go to lunch?” Uncle Mario said, peeking his head through the entrance. “Yeah” we said at the same time. “I’ll be right there” I said as they walked out of the room. I stood up, and took one final look around. “This season is going to be spectacular” I said to myself. With that I walked out of the dressing room, and headed for the car.
“So Sidney, what do you think of the arena?” Uncle Mario asked him as the car pulled away. “It’s really nice, I’m so excited for our first practice” he said with a big smile. “Good” Uncle Mario said. “We will be going to a small deli to pick up sandwiches for everyone at the house. Kay, your mother will be leaving at 4:00 today, so we are going to eat right before they leave”. “Sounds good to me” I said looking out the window. “Then tonight, Natile and I are going to dinner with some old friends. You two have the house to yourself, feel free to do whatever” Uncle Mario said looking at his Blackberry. “Yes” I thought to myself. “This will be the perfect time for us to hang out”.
When we arrived at the deli, my Uncle Mario told me to go in and pick up the order. “It’s already paid for” he said. When I walked in, there was a small woman waiting behind the counter. “Hello” I said politely, “Order for Mario”. “Sure thing” she said as she hustled into the kitchen. She came back a minute later with a large canvas bag. “Twelve sandwiches to go” she said, “You are all set, have a nice day”. I went back to the car, Kevin took the bag and then I hopped in. “Are we all set?” Uncle Mario said. “Yup” I replied, “Back to home it is”.
We arrived back at the house, where Amanda and Nancy greeted us at the walkway. “I will take those Kevin” Nancy said taking the bag from him, “Everyone is in the back”. We walked outback to see a table full of hungry faces. “Kay!” Alexa shouted, “I missed you”. “I missed you too Lexa. I missed all of you” I said looking at my cousins. I had missed them, but not that much. I loved my privacy, especially with Sidney around. We ate lunch and were finished by 3:45. “Time to get ready to go” my mother said to everyone. “Grandmas, Grandmas, Grandmas!” the little ones chanted as they left the table. “It’s going to be a long ride” my father said laughing as he stood up from the table. I sat there with Sidney, Uncle Mario, and Aunt Natile talking about my upcoming night. “I think I’m going to practice my dancing and stretch for a while. Then maybe watch a movie” I said looking towards Sidney’s direction. “Sounds good” Uncle Mario said, “How about you Sid?” he asked. “Well I have some plays to study for the upcoming practices next week, and I think I’m going to work out sometime later.” he said looking back to my Uncle. “Quiet night for you two” Uncle Mario said taking a sip of water. When he said that my heart started to beat faster. “I wonder if he knows, can he tell that I like him, what if Amanda told him about the other night?” I thought to myself, panicking. “You can have Amanda and Nancy make you dinner tonight, or you can order out from anywhere” he said standing up, “I’ll leave you money, but now I think I hear Cathy calling us”.
We walked into the entryway of my house, and sure enough everyone was waiting for us. Goodbye hugs and kisses were exchanged between everyone and then they left. “If you excuse me” Uncle Mario said, “I’m going to take a short nap, then shower and get ready for dinner. Natile is going out to do some errands before dinner. Dinner is at 7:00, but we are scheduled to leave at 5:45 because of traffic issues and a long commute.” “Alright Uncle Mario” I said, “Call me down before you leave”. “Sure thing Kay” he said walking up the stairs. “See you later Sid” I said in a flirtatious tone, and walked upstairs.
I turned on the TV, but quickly fell asleep. I was woken up and hour later by Amanda. “Miss, your uncle is leaving now.” I got up, fixed my hair and ran down the stairs. “Goodbye guys. Have fun” I said to my aunt and uncle. “Goodbye Kay, have fun tonight” Aunt Natile said with a smile. Two minutes later, I was standing in an empty entryway. “Yes” I said. I walked into the kitchen and saw Amanda. “Amanda, I know it is early, but I think I’m going to make Sidney and I pasta tonight. Then order an Oreo pizza from Domino’s. So you and Nancy can have the rest of the night off.” I said kindly. “Thank you Miss Kay” she said, “And Amanda, please stay away” I said to her with a wink. “I understand completely” she said walking out of the kitchen. I looked around to make sure no one was looking, and then I did leaps down the hallways, into Sidney’s wing.

Letting Love In-Ch8

Chapter 8:

Later that night, we all gathered in the great dining room at Uncle Mario’s for a nice dinner. Everyone was there and excited about different things. All the cousins and Stephen could talk about was Grandma’s house, my parents were busy talking about new business schemes, and Uncle Mario and Sidney were talking about the arena. I just sat in silence listening to all the excitement. And I started to think about what I would be helping Uncle Mario with.
An hour and a half went by and dinner was finally finished. Everyone returned to the bedrooms for the night. I sat out on my veranda, eating my raspberry sorbet thinking about Sidney. Then I saw the light go on in his room. “I have to see him” I thought to myself. I put down the sorbet and grabbed a pair of green cotton pants, and a pale pink silk camisole and put them on. Then I touched up my lip gloss, picked up my sorbet, and snuck down stairs where of course, Amanda was sitting reading a book. “Amanda” I whispered, “please cover for me, I have to go talk to you know who. If my mother asks for me tell her I was feeling sick and went to bed early.” “Sure thing Miss Kay” she whispered back and winked at me.
I ran outside through the stone walkway and entered Sid’s wing through his own entrance. I walked up the stairs to his room, and knocked lightly on the door. “It’s open” he said, I could tell he was tired. I opened the door, and he immediately sat up. “Hey”, he said “Hi yourself” I said back sitting on the bed. “What’s on your mind?” he asked, “Well, nothing really. I just wanted to wish you a good night” I said holding back. “Oh, well alright then goodnight Kay” he said sliding back down on the bed. “Goodnight” I said, getting up for the door. When I grabbed the knob I felt his hands on my arm, with that he spun me around and looked at me. “What did you really want to say” he said looking me right in the eyes. I knew what I wanted to say, but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him. Panicking, I made something up. “Well, I wanted to thank you for acting so calm around my family, and they wanted me to tell you that you me, and Uncle Mario are going to the arena tomorrow morning” I said looking down. “Oh” he said sounding disappointed, “Well then I’ll be seeing you tomorrow morning” he said as I backed away from him towards the door. “Uh yeah, see you tomorrow” I said. Feeling hurt and mad at myself because I couldn’t tell him the truth, I ran down the hallway with hot tears staining my face.
I got to my room and opened the veranda doors, and threw myself onto the small diva couch. I couldn’t help but to cry. I knew that I have strong feelings for Sidney but I could not bring myself to tell him the truth. “This is just like me” I said to myself. When I finally calmed down, I looked into Sidney’s window, and saw the TV light shut off. “I wonder if he feels the same way about me” I asked myself as I crawled into my bed. Then I fell asleep with that question burning my mind.
It seemed like I had only been sleeping for 5 minutes, when Amanda entered my room. “Miss Kay, it is 7:30. You leave for the arena in one hour” she said, while opening the veranda doors. “It is beautiful outside, already around 65 degrees. I will be downstairs making your breakfast while you get ready” she continued as she walked back over to my door. “Thank you Amanda”, I said as she disappeared behind the wooden door.
“Shower time” I said to myself, while turning on the radio in the bathroom. I got in the shower, and washed fairly quickly. Then I toweled off, blow-dried and straightened my hair. “What to wear” I said. Walking into my closet, I saw a black tight fitting t-shirt that would hug my thin body perfectly, and I picked out a pair of white capris. Then I added a gold necklace for a little flair. “Penguins colors” I said laughing. I picked up a pair of gold flip flops and walked out the door.
