Chapter 34:
I knocked three times, waited about 5 seconds and the door was open. He let out a breath when he saw me standing there. I couldn’t take it anymore; I ran into his arms and let him hold me. I began to cry, I was scared of would happen, I didn’t want him to let me go. He picked me up and carried me to the couch. “I’m so glad you came home” he said. I was still hanging onto him. “Me too” I said into his neck. It reminded me of when he first said his goodbye a few weeks ago. I still felt a hole in my heart.
I let go of him and regained my composure. Then I looked up at him. “Kay… I don’t want to ever let you go. I made a huge mistake that night” he said dethatching his gaze from mine, “And I never meant to hurt you. But I can’t live without you. I’ve been trying to manage for these past few weeks, but knowing that you are out there, alone, and hurting because of me… well it just doesn’t work out.” He seemed nervous and he bit the corner of his lip. “Okay” I said. I was sure now that he was serious; he wants me and only me. “I just wanted to let you know, you don’t have to be perfect for me. I know you as Sidney Crosby, the guy, not as Sidney Crosby, the superstar.” He nodded. “I love you Kay” he said, and gave me a deep kiss. “I’ve missed that” he said when he pulled away. I laughed and leaned in for more.
It was late, and he led me up to his room. I climbed under the familiar covers and snuggled against his chest. “I’m so glad you came home” he whispered into my ear. “Mmmmhmm” I said, very sleepily. He kissed my forehead and stroked my hair until I fell asleep.
I woke up around 8:00, they had a game today. Sidney was just waking up and he pulled me into him. “I haven’t slept that well in so long” he said stretching one arm, “Shower time.” He rolled off the bed and walked across the room. I rolled over and fell asleep again.
I woke up to the sound of smashing glass. “Shit” Sidney said. I looked over and saw him starring at pieces of a shattered glass and food on the floor. “I um… made you um… breakfast?” he said, embarrassment in his voice. I burst out laughing and got up from the bed. “What’s this? Superstar can’t carry two plates at one time?” I was really laughing hard at his facial expression. It was killing him. “Not funny” he managed, but a smile was growing on his face. Soon he laughed too. “I guess we’ll have to share mine” he said handing over his plate.
“Um flax seed pancakes, no syrup. Grapefruit, so sugar. No bacon, no ham. Eggs, but without the yolks. Ew, no thank you.” I said looking at the plate. “But it is a breakfast of a champion” he whined. “Yeah a champion who can’t carry two things at once” I snickered and then I looked down on the floor. Mixed fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon wheat toast were lying on the floor. He rolled his eyes at me but I then laughed again. I went to step over the glass on the floor but he put his hands out so I couldn’t move. He put his plate down on the table next to the door and reached for me. He picked me up and gently put me down in the door frame. “I don’t want you to get hurt or anything” he said sheepishly. I kissed him hard on the lips and he tightened the grip around my waist.
“I’ll see you tonight” he pulled away and let go of me. I wrapped my hands around his neck and pulled him close again. His lips surrendered to mine and I pushed him up against the door frame. I pulled away, out of breath and smiled up at him. He put his forehead against mine and sighed. “Score some points for me tonight champ” I said. I felt his jaw tense when I mentioned points and I immediately felt regret. I made it up to him with one last kiss. Then I ran down the stairs to his front door. “Kay” he called, I looked up to him and he was standing against the rail, “I love you” he said. My stomach became overfilled with butterflies and I felt my cheeks became hot. “I love you too, and I forgive you” I said. He smiled, with relief almost, and I walked out the door.

Letting Love In-Ch33
Chapter 33:
I walked up into my parent’s bedroom. My mother was sitting at her desk putting on makeup. I sat down on the bed behind her. “Mom, I think I need to leave for a while” I said after a few moments of silence. She immediately whipped her head around and looked at me. “Why? Honey what is wrong?” she asked. “This morning Sidney came home. He went out drinking with some guys after the game I guess. Well then he started to yell at me, I’m surprised you didn’t hear it, and he was blaming me for all of his failures this season. He said I put too much pressure on him and that I expect too much out of him. Then when I went to leave he grabbed my arm, and it hurt. He just really scared me. So I think I need to leave for a while to let him think things over.” She looked at me in sheer terror. “Should I tell your uncle about this?” she asked. “No. I can mostly understand he didn’t mean to hurt me. He wasn’t himself. I just want to relieve some of this ‘pressure’ that I’m causing” I said. She nodded her head. “Honey, do whatever you need to. But if things get out of hand and he hurts you again, I’m telling your uncle.” “Alright mom” I said. She stood up, kissed my cheek, and I went in my room to call Micah.
*****
I packed two-week’s worth of clothes. I was headed to New York State for Micah and Brianna’s house. I told Micah what had happened and her and Brianna decided that I should spend a while with them. Brianna called Jessica and invited her too. Jessica was already on her flight, it was an early morning one. I had to leave in ten minutes. I looked at my night table and saw the picture of me in Sidney’s arms after one of his games. I closed my eyes tight to erase the image of him out of my mind. I sighed and went downstairs.
The only people that knew about the fight were Kevin, Amanda, Nancy and my mother. Sidney too, of course. We told everyone I had been invited up to New York because Micah and Brianna really wanted to spend time with me. No one suspected anything, it had been three days since the fight, and the only time I talked to Sidney was at breakfast the next morning, and one time when I asked him if he could take Dot for a walk while I was busy. My brother had the golden opportunity to watch Dot while I was gone. Sidney too had to take care of him, but I would let Steph know that before I left.
I told Kevin that I would be out in a minute and I motioned towards Sidney’s door. He nodded and understood. I walked down to his main door and knocked. He opened the door and looked at me with a blank expression. He took a step back and let me in. I faced the opposite wall when he shut the door and I grabbed the wrist where the bruises were. I held onto my wrist for dear life, took a deep breath and turned around to him. I noticed his clothes, they were wrinkled. His hair was messy, probably from tossing and turning in bed, like I have been. He had small bags under his eyes, further proving he hadn’t been sleeping. His eyes were glassy and didn’t show any emotion until he looked down and saw I was looking in his eyes.
“I’m um… going to New York State for a few weeks.” I whispered. He nodded. “When will you be back?” he asked like he was afraid to know the answer. “Two weeks from today” I replied. He closed his eyes for a moment and bit his lip. “Alright” he said. I could barely hear, my heart was pounding in my ears. I could hardly speak, my mouth was dry and a lump was building in my throat. “I’ve got to go” I said, looking away from him. He nodded again.
I didn’t know what to do. Before every other goodbye, he would kiss me hard. But now it was different. I had the urge to draw him near and hug him tight, but visions of his anger filled my mind and tears rolled down my cheeks. In an instant reaction he held my face in his hands and wiped them away. I surrendered to his touch and leaned into his hand. He pulled me forward and kissed my forehead. I let out a sob and grabbed the door handle. “Be safe” he said to me. And I left for Syracuse, New York.
*********
I had been there for a week. We went shopping, out to lunch and dinner, and to the movies. We would make up little dances in the basement and then play stupid games. It was like a slumber party that continued on and on. I told them one night over dinner that I was not going to attend the conservatory, and I was going to go to college for a degree in communications. “But you are such a great dancer Kay!” they said, at once. “I know girls, but I can’t dance my whole life.” I argued with them and they soon understood.
I watched the games. They won one game, but lost all the other ones. The lost 7-0 one night and it was the night he called me. I had a voicemail, it was Sidney.
“Kay, it’s me. Um… I don’t really know what to do anymore.” -Long pause- -Sigh- “Please come home. I really miss you. I need you. Please just… just come home”
I still had four days left on my trip. But with his voice, so broken; He sounded so tired, almost helpless. My heart took over my thoughts and I convinced myself to go home. The next morning I told Jessica, Micah and Brianna. I booked a flight that left at 9:30 p.m. [it was the only open flight] I called my mother and told her I was coming home, she told me that Kevin would be there waiting. I told her to please not tell anyone that Sidney asked me to come home, she told me that she would say I was feeling homesick and that I just wanted to come home. I agreed and prepared for my flight home.
I said my goodbyes to Micah, Brianna and Jessica and told them that I would definitely invite them over for a week in the summer. They hugged me tight and told me to call them whenever I needed to. I thanked them and headed outside to the taxi. My flight went quickly and I was nervous as I pulled up to the house. I knew I had to see Sidney, but I had to do something first.
I went to see Dot, and hugged him tight. He went crazy when I picked him up. He was glad I was home, I wasn’t so sure. I ran up to my room and changed into my pajamas, well a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. I took off most of my makeup and put on a thick pair of socks. I looked at my reflection in the mirror, sighed and prepared myself.
I walked up into my parent’s bedroom. My mother was sitting at her desk putting on makeup. Letting Love In-Ch32
Chapter 32:
The week went by surprisingly fast. He would call me in the morning, then call me after his games just to say goodnight. It was all good, but they lost every game; so when he called me it sounded like he was about ready to commit murder. He was supposed to be home around 2 on Sunday morning. I figured he would want to see me, so I decided to just sleep in his room and wait for him to come home. I went to bed around 1; I was watching a Whose Line Is It Anyway marathon. I woke up around 3:45 and he wasn’t home. I figured the plane was late or something, so I just rolled over and went back to sleep. I knew something was wrong when he came in at 5:30, tripping over nothing and swearing. “Sid?” I called into the semi-darkness of the room. “What are you doing here” he said, a little louder and nastier than really needed. “Well I figured you would-“ he cut me off. “Figured you would want to congratulate me on our awesome week” he kicked over a pile of clean clothes and made his way towards the bed. Then I realized, “You went drinking didn’t you?!” I half shrieked. “Shut up Kay. You don’t know what this is like for me” he barked back.
I didn’t know what to think. I knew the alcohol was partly talking to me, not the real Sidney. But then again he was screaming at me while I just sat there, lost in my thoughts. I was scared, and my only way out was the door. “You expect me to be the perfect person. I have enough pressure from everyone. I don’t need you looking after me, or trying to figure things out for me” he kept yelling. Tears began to flow down my cheeks. I got off the bed and raced to the door. He grabbed my wrist and kept yelling. “Where do you think you’re going? To tell your precious uncle that I’ve been an asshole to you?” I ripped my arm out of his hand and ran down the stairs back to my house.
Dot was whimpering in his cage when I ran into the house. It was like he knew that things were not right. It was now almost 6:00. I took Dot out of his cage and carried him up to my room with me. I laid there on my diva couch with Dot until I lost the fight with exhaustion and fell asleep.
It was about 10:00 when I woke up. Dot was having a feast on a pair of slippers in the corner of my room. I was too drained to even do anything about it. I walked into my bathroom and looked at myself. I had grey marks all under my eyes and on my cheeks. My face was red and it looked to be a little puffy. I had faint circles and bags under my eyes. While I was washing my face, Dot ran into the bathroom with a t-shirt in his mouth. I bent down to take it out. It was one of Sidney’s, the one he designed. Looking at it made me sick. I threw it into the hamper with a good amount of force and sighed.
“I know he didn’t mean it. But he still said it” I said to Dot, who was looking up at me. “Well I guess you have to go out” I said. I made my way outside, and Dot did his business. Kevin was walking out of the house as I was walking in. “Miss Kay, are you alright. I kind of heard what happened this morning when I brought Mr. Crosby home from the… well wherever he was.” “Yes Kevin, I’ll be fine. It really isn’t anything to worry about. I’m sure it will pass” I said, looking down. “Alright Miss Kay. But remember that you must accept the goods and bads with people as they come; you never really know what you will get. And you cannot just assume things only happen once” he raised his eyebrows and briskly walked into the garage.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” I asked Dot. I shrugged it off and went inside. Now more people were awake. [Sunday is family sleep in day] I was praying that no one else had heard Sidney screaming at me this morning, and if they did I was hoping they would keep it to themselves. . Amanda and Nancy were too busy making the family’s Sunday brunch to talk to me, so I sat down in front of Dot’s cage and rearranged all the blankets, toys, and the bed. One by one the family members came downstairs. My mother reminded me that Dot had his injections the following day, my father said good morning and patted my head as he walked by, my brother messed up my hair and pet Dot, my aunt walked in talking to my cousins about them staying up too late, Uncle Mario said good morning to me and tapped my shoulder with the newspaper in his hand. It was a little after 11, and Sidney walked into the kitchen wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt.
I stood near the counter making myself look busy by arranging the fruit salad in a bowl. It sounded like no one had heard the fight because they all greeted him how they would have on any other morning. Soon enough Amanda shooed everyone into the dining room, except for me so I could finish the salad. “Keep your head up dear” she said to me as I walked into the dining room. I sat next to my uncle, and kept my eye contact and focus on my waffles, fruit and juice. When I was asked things I would look at the person talking, and every time someone said something I prayed it was not about Sidney, or him asking me to pass something.
Thankfully, brunch passed without a word between either of us. I could feel his eyes burning holes in my head when it was only me and him left at the table. I sat there, kind of like I was frozen in one position. He finally spoke. “Kay look, I know last night” he began, “It doesn’t matter” I said. It was barely audible. I needed to find something to hold on to, a crutch, that would keep me from bursting into tears. I picked up my glass of orange juice and slowly downed the juice as he continued to speak. “I’m sorry. I really don’t know what else to say. I didn’t mean it. I wasn’t myself. I just kind of lost my self control last night. That is one of my lowest points.” I concentrated on putting my glass down in the same spot it was, but my hand was shaking. I put it down quickly, but before I could pull my hand away he took it in his.
He looked down and saw the small bruises that were on my wrist. His head fell and a sigh escaped out of his lungs. He let go of my hand like it was a white hot piece of metal and rested his head in his hands. “I don’t understand this” I managed to squeak out. “Everything was so perfect. You were being amazing to me. You told me you loved me every time you talked to me. Then you just come back and start screaming at me, hurting me.” A tear rolled down my cheek and my vision was blurred. “I think I just need some time… to be away” he said. “What?” I said, now becoming angry. “Sidney, you came back here and broke my heart. For the first time ever I was scared of you. I thought you were going to hurt me. Now you just want to run away from this? Do you really think that is the right thing to do?” I was gripping my napkin so tight that my knuckles were white.
“I don’t know what I should do” he said. He looked up at me and I saw that he was hurt, tired, scared, angry… probably with himself. “Maybe I should go away and let you think things out. For now you can decide if you still want me” I was angry. I stood up and threw my napkin on the table. I started to walk out the door when I remembered one last thing. “I love you Sidney. I have from the start, and I will for a while. Just… remember that.” With that I walked out of the dining room and into the foyer. I didn’t hear any sounds of footsteps behind me. The only thing I heard was the sound of Amanda and Nancy cleaning dirty dishes.

Letting Love In-Ch31
Chapter 31:
Sitting in the box on a red blanket with a few toys, a bowl of water and a small dish of food was the cutest puppy I had ever seen. It was a small grey dog with caramel, white, and black mixed in. I picked it up and it immediately licked my face. I giggled and when it calmed down I looked at Sidney. “What kind of dog is it?” I asked stroking its head. “Miniature Australian Shepard” he said walking towards us. “He doesn’t have a name yet” he said petting the dog. “Do I get to pick?” I asked him. “Of course you do” he said. I looked at the dog and noticed a dot of grey under his left eye. “Dot” I said. Sidney made a face. “Well excuse me, this is my puppy and I get to chose the name” I said sticking my tongue out at him and pulling Dot away from his reach. “Actually” he began grabbing my waist. “He is our puppy.”
He looked at Dot with a loving and caring expression and I couldn’t help but to smile. I kissed Sidney on the cheek and thanked him for the dog. “I figured since we’re too young to have kids, a puppy would do” he said. When Dot started squirming, Sidney took him in his arms. “Now Dot, you need to behave for your mommy and daddy” Sid said. I smiled at him and kissed him again. We leaned our heads together and looked at the dog. “This is our family” I whispered, and Sid nodded in agreement.
*******
We arrived home and I found that Sidney had gotten everything ready for Dot. He has a cage, food, leash, bed, toys, blankets. You name it, Dot had it. I looked into the 4 foot by 3 foot cage and saw that there was a Penguins towel on the bed. I laughed and saw Sidney giving Dot his vitamins. We put Dot in the cage [which was across the hall from Sidney’s room so we could check on him overnight] and watched as he fell asleep. I stood up and Sidney took me into his arms. “Thank you so much” I said into his chest. “I love you Kay” he whispered. “I love you too” I said and gave him a soft kiss on the lips.
“I have your present” I said to him after I pulled out of the kiss. “Alright” he said, and we walked into his room. I took out the small velvet box from my pocket and handed it to him after he turned on the light. He opened it and a smile spread across his face. I bought him a white gold chain with a hockey stick on the end with a small ‘87’ engraved on the blade. “This is perfect” he said. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me on the forehead.
I changed into a pair of his sweatpants and a shirt and laid down on his bed. A few minutes later I felt his arm around my waist and I fell asleep. I woke up around 7 to hear dot whimpering. I rolled over and grabbed a sweatshirt off the chair next to Sidney’s bed. I made my way into the hallway to see Dot scratching against the metal bars. I figured he had to go out. So I took the leash off the hanger, snapped it on Dot, picked him up and carried him out to the back entrance of Sidney’s wing. Dot did his business and hopped around the soggy grass.
After a few minutes of watching Dot sniff out his new yard, I took him back inside. I wiped off his paws ears and belly and then brought him upstairs. Sid was still sleeping, and it was around 8, so I put Dot on the bed and he trotted over and started to lick Sidney’s face. His eyes opened and he started laughing. I joined in laughing when Dot stood on Sidney’s chest and started nudging him with his nose. Sidney sat up and looked at the clock.
“We have a 5 day road trip this week” he said, sadly. “I know” I replied picking Dot up off the bed and holding him in my arms. “Sorry to have to leave you with Dot by yourself, but I’m sure everyone will want to help you out” he said and stood up. “I’m going to go introduce him to everyone” I began, “After you shower could you just bring his kennel to my house and put it in the kitchen next to the basement door?” “Sure” he said walking towards me and kissed me on the forehead. He pet Dot’s head and I turned on my heel and out the door.
*****
“Oh my dear lord” my mother said as I walked into the kitchen. “A puppy?” she asked and immediately stood up to pet him. “Yes” I said, “Sidney got him for me for Valentine’s Day.” Then Amanda entered the room and her eyes lit up. “He finally gave it to you!” she cried and reached out for Dot. I let her hold him and asked, “What do you mean finally?” “Well Miss Kay, he has had it reserved for you for a while now, but he did not know when he was going to give it to you. Kevin, Nancy and I had to help him pick out the right things and food for him.” “You knew about this all along?” I asked, “Of course I did” she said nuzzling up to Dot.
My brother came running down the stairs. “What is that? A puppy? Kay, you got a puppy? What is its name? Is it a boy? Did Sidney get this for you? It is so cool! Can I hold it Amanda?” he was almost yelling. “Steph, quiet down! Yes it is a puppy. His name is Dot. And yes, Sidney got it for us. Us as in him and I. It is OUR puppy” I said, making it clear it was not his. [He had a reputation for taking things that were not his]
Sidney walked into our house holding the giant cage like it was a feather. He was followed by my three cousins and they all ran over to Steph who was now holding Dot. I swear the reactions were as close to having a new baby in the house. Steph put Dot down on the floor and Sidney threw him one of his new toys. He threw it into the living room, but Dot was slipping and sliding all over the wood and linoleum floor. After a few minutes of watching Dot, it was time for breakfast. The whole family ate together but my uncle and Sidney had to leave early to catch their plane ride.
I followed Sidney to his wing and sat down on one of the barstools in his kitchen. “Do you have everything?” I asked him. “Yes mom. I double checked” he said while putting his bags near the door. I picked up one of Dot’s toys that was sitting on the counter and threw it at him. “Hey, be gentle, you don’t want to injure the star player” he said, joking of course. “Star player?” I asked. “That’s what I said” he replied walking over towards me. “I don’t think so. I haven’t heard of a star player that has gotten beat by a girl.” He rolled his eyes and stood in front of me. I looked up at him and instantly wanted him to stay home. “You don’t have proof of that my dear” he said. I laughed and told him it didn’t matter. I stood up and wrapped my arms around his neck. I buried my head in his shoulder, “I don’t want you to go” I said into his collar. “Well, you know I want to be with you, but you also know that I’ll bring you home something very pretty” he said. I laughed and pulled away from him.
He prepared his goodbye with a deep, passionate kiss. Then he pulled away and looked at the ground. “I’ll um… be back… Saturday night” he said. I heard Dot barking in the distance. My uncle came into Sid’s wing and yelled, “Let’s go Sid, the planes a-waitin’.” He rolled his eyes, kissed me on last time and said he would promise to call and text me as much as he could. I said I’d be alright, and that Dot would miss him more. He laughed, winked at me, and ran out the door with his bags.
I looked around his wing. Empty. I sighed and made my way back to my house so that I could get ready to take Dot to his vet appointment.

Letting Love In-Ch30
Chapter 30:
Christmas was very nice. I got a lot of presents from my family, little things though. I had dinner with my family and then we hung around the house all day. Nothing really eventful happened though.
***** 3 WEEKS LATER******
It had all been the same. Game day, sit around the house, watch TV, dance, shop. I applied for a job as an intern at my uncle’s foundation office. So I was pretty busy with that too.
It was all of a sudden I started spending less time with Sidney. He would get in too late for me to go to his room; he would be too tired to come to my room. He would be busy with the media; I would be at work. My family had decided to go out for dinner one night, but I was sick, so I stayed home. My door opened up about a half hour after they had left. Sidney walked in with bright yellow flowers and a tray of soup and crackers. “I’ve come to play nurse” he said with a smile and shut the door.
I sat up and turned the TV down. “I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever” he said, his back to me putting the flowers on my fireplace mantel. He turned around and looked at me when I didn’t say anything. I pointed to my throat and squeaked out “Hurts”. “Oh” he said. He put the tray on my lap and took a seat on my diva in the corner off the room. “No offence or anything, but I don’t want to get sick.” I nodded in reply and stared at the TV. I didn’t touch my soup. Something was not right with him.
I coughed, “Sid what is wrong, you don’t seem yourself.” “I’m fine” he said looking at me, but it was more like he was looking past me and focusing on something behind me. “No, no, no” I said “What is wrong” I demanded. “Well I’m starting to think that I scared you away by giving you the ring and stuff” I interrupted him and said “No. That made me realize how much you really mean to me, and it showed me you had the same feelings I do” I coughed violently, then took a cracker and put it in my mouth. “You are so pathetic right now” he said and walked over to me. He took away the tray and gave me a tea cup, “Drink” he said. He sat down next to me and put his arm around me. “I thought you didn’t want to get sick” I whispered. “I’ll do anything for you” he said. He stroked my hair and I snuggled into his chest. I probably fell asleep, because the next thing I knew it was 10:00 in the morning, the next day.
****** 2 WEEKS LATER******
I finally wasn’t sick anymore. It was Valentine’s Day. I was sitting at my desk typing up some report for my uncle when Sidney came bounding down the hallway. “Guess what?” he said, like a 4th grader, “What?” I said playing along. “Tonight, you and I are going out” “Really now?” I said, “Why of course.” I laughed and the phone rang. “Hello Mario Lemieux Foundation how can I help you? –pause- “Yes, alright I’ll let him know” I said into the receiver. I scribbled down the note and put it on my computer screen, “Where exactly are we going?” I asked, knowing I probably wouldn’t be getting an answer. “Oh come on, I can’t tell you that” he said, “Just don’t make any plans” he said. He grabbed my hand, spun the ring around, and kissed me on the cheek. “See you later” he said, ever so sexily [if that’s a word] and then ran back down the hallway.
***
I was wearing black jeans, a grey long sleeved sweater tunic, and black to white faded heels. My hair was down and straight, and I had on both his necklace and ring [like always]. I went downstairs and he told me I should change my shoes. “What? Why?” I asked, “You don’t want to slip on the ice now do you?” he asked. I rolled my eyes at him and went upstairs and threw on a pair of black Uggs. I grabbed my Burberry jacket and headed out to the car.
We were at the arena. “Sid, this better be good” I said getting out. “Oh trust me. It’s good” We walked in and down to the ice. There was a red blanket, with pillows a basket and some candles in the middle of the pitch black arena. I smiled up at him and he took my hand and led me onto the ice. He motioned me to sit, and I took my jacket off. “Look at what I made” he said taking something out of the basket. “Peanut-butter and Jelly?” I asked looking at the sandwich, “Yes, actually” he said. I laughed and kissed his cheek.
While we were eating, I looked down at the ring. Its small diamonds sparkled from the candlelight. I looked back up at Sidney and my heart skipped a beat. “What?” he asked when he noticed I was staring at him. “Nothing” I replied shaking the image of me in a wedding dress out of my head. “I’m not even 18 yet” I said to myself, “Nor close to 21. It’s going to take a long time to wait for this.” He looked at me concerned and his gaze narrowed. “Nothing” I said again. “Whatever. Anyway, are you done eating yet? It’s time for part 2 of my surprises” I rolled my eyes at him and then laughed. He gave me a dirty look, but then laughed too. “Fine. Yes. I’m done.” I said. He stood up and reached for my hand.
He put his arms around my waist and told me to wait at center ice. He told me he had to go get my surprise and he would be back in a minute. “Alright” I said and I waited. Some lights turned on and I could actually see. I looked around and saw that, sure enough, there was no one else in here. Well I assume there was someone somewhere, but they couldn’t be seen. On the quarter lit ice I saw Sidney walk on pushing a medium size box. He seemed to be going very slowly, but I wasn’t sure if he really was or my mind was just putting a dramatic effect on every move he made. He slid the box in front of me and stood up straight. “Well” he said. Right when he said that, the box moved.
I thought it was my imagination, but it moved again, closer to me. I started to get a little nervous. “Sid? What is in there?” I asked backing away. “Do you trust me?” he asked, “Of course I do” I replied, “Well, then open it.” I bent down and picked up the top of the box. I shrieked in delight.

Letting Love In-Ch29
Chapter 29:
I smiled into his chest. I pulled away and looked up at him. “It’s downstairs” he said. I ran out of his room and down to his living room. I sat on the couch and folded my legs Indian style. He came down the stairs and took a small box and a bigger box out of the hallway closet. “Of course you hid it in the one place I didn’t look” I said. “You looked for these?” he asked, seeming astounded. “Nah, I’m just kidding” I said laughing. He came down and sat across from me on the ottoman.
He handed me the bigger box. I peeled off the red bow and stuck it on his shirt, like a little kid. He laughed at me and shook his head. I took off the paper and opened the box. There was a picture of us in a silver frame. It was one after a winning game, he had his arm around my shoulder and I had my hands on his chest. We were both laughing at something and had huge smiles on our faces. I thanked him and told him that was my favorite picture of us. I looked at the corner of the frame. “You bring ultimate happiness into my life” was engraved in cursive letters. I joked with him saying that hockey was his main lover. “Well if you think that, then I won’t give you this” he said shaking the small box. “I was just kidding!” I said.
His face got serious and stroked the top of the box. “Kay, this is really important to me” he said looking down. He opened the box and there was a white gold ring with three small diamonds in the center. “I know this sounds bad, but this is my first year of professional hockey. I don’t really want to anything right now. I mean I’m only 18. But Kay, I’m in love with you, and I want to give you this to promise you that one day I want you to be mine. All mine; I don’t want to share you with anyone. And I … I don’t know, but this is for you.” I had tears in my eyes as he slipped the ring onto my finger. He looked up at me and wiped away the tear that was rolling down my cheek.
“Sid… I love you too” he kissed me on the lips and I could feel him smile. I put my head on his shoulder, and thanked God for the best man in the world. After I composed myself, I looked back at him. “Come on, let’s go to bed” he said standing up. “I can wait until the morning for my present” I smiled and followed him up the stairs.
I settled into his chest, my head tucked under his chin, with his hands around my waist. I looked at the ring on my hand. “Not today, not this year, but soon enough” I said to myself. I hugged him in closer, and quickly drifted off to sleep.
*******
I woke up and he wasn’t there. I didn’t hear the shower running, and when I put my hand over where he was it was cold. Then I heard something fall downstairs. I put on a sweatshirt and sleepily walked down to his kitchen. “Merry Christmas” I said taking a seat at the island. “Well good morning, and Merry Christmas to you too” he said, leaned over and kissed my nose. I wrinkled it up and looked around the kitchen. He placed a plate of french toast with strawberries and a scrambled egg in front of me. “Thank you” I said, and began to eat. He soon sat down across from me and ate as well.
When I was done I pushed my plate in front of me. He had been watching me pick at something on the shirt I was wearing and he piped up. “Now it’s time for my present” he said. I told him alright and walked over to his pantry. I took out a box of whole grain cereal where my present was hiding. “Are you kidding me?” he said looking at me. “Nope. I know you only eat sugary cereal for breakfast and that you wouldn’t touch this, so I figured hey why not.” He laughed at me as I took out an envelope.
I put the envelope on the counter and slid it towards him. He opened it and took out two plane tickets. “These are to Nova Scotia” he said aloud. “I know” I said looking at him. “I thought I’d make it up to your parents by coming home with you for a while this summer.” “No way” he said, “I thought you didn’t like my parents?” “Well Sid, I was really immature with that whole situation, and I didn’t really know they were coming down the other day. I had a whole plan to call your mom and tell her I wanted to come home with her and stuff to really impress her, but when she was here I freaked out. That’s why I was upset. But now that I look back, I think I owe it to them to show them the real me.” He stretched his arms towards me and I walked over and held onto him tight.
“I love you” he said into my ear, and then my cousins came running into the kitchen.

Letting Love In-Ch28
Chapter 28:
We sat at a table with my whole family. We made conversation with different players and their families. It was like any other party I’ve been to. And we’ve all been to parties where nothing really special happens. The special parts happened after the party.

We got in the car, and he leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. “What was that for?” I asked him, blushing a bit. “For being the perfect date” he said as he smoothed out his jacket. I ruined his smoothing by cuddling up next to him. I was getting more and more excited as we got closer to the house. In about 45 minutes we arrived back home. Sidney smiled as he got out of the car… it wasn’t a normal smile, it was his devilish smile. I knew something was about to happen.
We got into the foyer and he covered my eyes. “Sid I’m going to fall” I said as I started walking to where he was pushing me. He was silent. We were at the stairs; he took one hand off my eyes and put it on the rail. I giggled as I made my way up the stairs. His door was open, and he took his hands off my eyes. I opened them, and his room was lit by the fire in the fireplace. There were deep red rose petals on the floor, leading to the bed, and to the bathroom. It smelled like cinnamon, and gingerbread.
I turned around to look at him, and he was standing against the door frame, arms folded, blank expression, staring at me. I smiled at him and he motioned his head in the direction of the bathroom. I walked forward and went into the bathroom. The tub was full, with bubbles on top. There was only candlelight in the room. There were two red towels sitting at the edge of the tub, with massage oil on top. When I turned around, he wasn’t there. I walked back into his room and he was sitting on the edge of the bed looking at the wall. I walked over to him and grabbed his shoulders, he looked up and before he could say a word I began to kiss him. It started out soft, then harder, then more passionate. He kicked his shoes off and I slipped his jacket off. I stepped out of my shoes as he pushed me in the direction of the bathroom. His hands were tight on my back, but then slowly, as if to tease me, he started pulling down the zipper of the dress. In one motion, it fell on the ground.
We were standing in the middle of the bathroom when I began to undo the buttons on his shirt. It was hard to do when I was fully engulfed in his lips. I broke away with a giggle and finished, I ripped it off and looked up at him. His lips were red, and his face was flushed, he looked at me like I’ve never seen him look at me before. He pulled off my bra and I pulled down his pants. He lifted me up and pulled off my thong, he flung it off his hand and chuckled into another heated kiss. He placed me into the tub, and climbed in.
When he sat down in front of me, I leaped on top him and began biting and sucking his neck. His hands were roaming and drifted over my breasts. He pinched my nipples causing me to moan. I bit him a little harder than needed to leave a mark and then it was his turn to moan. His fingers traced down towards my entrance and with a quick move he had me straddled against him with two fingers in me. He began pumping slowly, teasing me, and when I let out a soft whimper he began going faster and faster. My body went limp and I grabbed onto his chest for some support as an orgasm ripped through my system.
When I regained my composure and found his dick, at attention and grabbed it. I traced up and down his shaft watching him look at me with anticipation. I rolled him over so he was on my back and slowly lowered myself onto him. After moving up and down slowly, enjoying his feel inside me, he lost control and flipped me on my back. Water was splashing over the side of the tub as he slapped his body against mine. I called out his name and he pushed himself further and further until he stopped and started panting.
I started to kiss him and moved over towards the towels, I grabbed the massage oil and turned to him. I put some on my hands and reached to his shoulders. He sighed as I massaged his strong shoulders, then down to his back, and then back up to his neck. I kissed the back of his neck down to his shoulder, and he turned towards me. He smiled, like he was satisfied, and his lips found mine.
After a few minutes of kissing him, he stood up and grabbed the towel; he put it over my shoulders and dried me off. It’s funny how he thought that I was done. I traced his abs and looked up at him like I was an innocent angel. Then I grabbed his hand and ran down the hall to the bed. He stood there looking at me like I was crazy. I pushed him onto the bed and laughed. He laughed too. I jumped on top of him and started sucking my way around his body.
He got tired of the teasing, and reentered me. He went slow, then fast, then slow again. He took his hand off my hip and gently started rolling my clit between his fingers. By this time I was panting like a dog and I could feel my thighs quivering beneath him. I put my forehead on his shoulder, as to steady myself, and then it happened again. I saw stars, couldn’t breathe, and felt a tingle in my spine. He pulled out of me and then I decided to give him one last round.
I moved down to his hips and took his cock in my mouth. I rolled it around, stroked it with my tongue, and carefully and softly nibbled. I stroked the sensitive patch of skin on his balls and with a hard suck and a twist of my tongue, his eyes fluttered shut, and my mouth was filled. I smiled up at him, and then stood up and went to his dresser. It was a little hard to walk after I had just had the most mind-blowing sex of my life, but I managed. I grabbed a t-shirt, boxers, and pants for Sidney and threw them to him. I took out a t-shirt and pants too and put them on.
“Now I don’t know about you” I said, “But I want my present.” I said it in the most little kid voice I could manage. He stood up and walked over to me. He kissed my forehead and hugged me tight. “Whatever you want” he said into my hair, “I’ll give you whatever you want.”
We sat at a table with my whole family. We made conversation with different players and their families. It was like any other party I’ve been to. And we’ve all been to parties where nothing really special happens. The special parts happened after the party.
